Christmas time in the Filzmoos Mountains
The Christmas atmosphere at the Hofalm is a special part of the Advent season in Filzmoos every year. At the foot of the Bischofsmütze, a path lit by torches winds its way through the wintry landscape surrounding the Almsee. There is also traditional Christmas music, a nativity scene and cosy places to stop for refreshments at the Hofalmen.

The Christmas atmosphere is particularly lovely in the evening, when the many torches light up the path through the snow-covered landscape. Along the circular walk, there are various festive stops to discover.
You should allow about 30 to 40 minutes for the walk. Warm clothing and sturdy winter boots are an absolute must.
Afterwards, you can warm up with a hot drink and a tasty snack at the Oberhofalm or Unterhofalm.
To the mountain pastures
The Hofalmen are not accessible by car in winter. Those who enjoy walking can combine the hike to the Hofalm with a visit to this idyllic Christmas setting.
A lovely alternative is a horse-drawn sleigh ride. Wrapped up warm, you’ll travel through the winter landscape up to the alpine pastures.
A taxi bus is also available, subject to prior booking.

The Christmas celebrations at the Hofalm will take place on selected days from 27 November to 27 December 2026.
November: 27th, 28th and 29th.
December: 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 16th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 23rd, 25th, 26th and 27th.
Opening hours: 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm each day
