Ballooning in Filzmoos
The balloon weeks in Filzmoos are an annual highlight that takes place every January and attracts visitors from all over the world. During this time, you can witness the impressive launches of around 45 hot air balloons every day. An essential part of the event are the exciting competitions between the balloon teams, who compete in disciplines such as long-distance flight, precision landing and the fly-in.
The balloon glow on the night of the balloons is a special experience, an impressive spectacle that lights up the sky and casts a spell over visitors.
Not forgetting the hot air balloon rides, which offer participants a breathtaking view over the picturesque landscape of Filzmoos and the majestic Dachstein massif. Under ideal conditions, these two-hour flights can provide a visibility of several hundred kilometres.
New passengers experience a special ceremony in which they are "elevated to the nobility" and baptised in the old ballooning tradition, an unforgettable moment for every first-time passenger.
